A strong first half allowed Fairview to put a damper on Cashion’s “Senior Night” and avenge a loss from earlier this season.

The Lady Jackets built a double-digit halftime lead Tuesday night and made it stick 53-40 for a Three Rivers Conference road win.

Prior to the game, Cashion recognized its seniors, including Megan Shafer, who was recognized for surpassing 1,000 career points earlier this season.

Shafer now has 1,281 career points and is approaching 1,000 career rebounds as well.

She scored 12 points for the Lady Wildcats in the loss.

Cashion was led by Kate Nabavi’s 15 points.

Led by sophomores Harlee Hamar and Bentlee Bernard, Fairview got out to a 31-19 halftime lead.

Cashion cut it to single digits after three quarters, but was limited to six points in the fourth.

Hamar scored 16 to lead Fairview, which was ranked 18th in 2A.

Bernard scored 10. Five Fairview players scored eight or more points.

Five players in total scored for Cashion, which was ranked 14th in 2A.

Cashion had defeated Fairview 49-46 in the semifinals of the conference tournament last month.

The loss dropped the Lady Wildcats to 15-8.
