Lomega squads take care of business, sweep Medford
Despite being down one of its scoring threats, Lomega didn’t fall prey to the post-championship hangover.
The Raiders took care of Medford on Tuesday with a 59-36 victory at home.
The win came just three days after the Raiders won the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament championship.
Lance Yost was the MVP of the tournament, but was unable to play against the Cardinals due to an illness.
Ben Marsh and Chase Burton picked up the slack, especially in the third quarter.
With Lomega leading by 12, those two combined for 24 points in the third as the Raiders extended their lead to 55-30.
Marsh scored 13 of those points and finished with 24.
Burton added 11 in the quarter and scored 20 in the game. He made five of the Raiders’ six 3-pointers in the contest.
Lomega has now won six straight and is 15-6 on the season.
Lady Raiders win 20th in a row
Once Lomega kicked it in gear, Medford never had a shot.
The Lady Raiders won their 20th straight Tuesday as they ran away from visiting Medford 70-28.
Up 14-9 after a quarter, Lomega outscored the Lady Cardinals 49-8 over the next two periods.
That included a 27-1 run in the third quarter.
Coming off her MVP performance at the conference tournament, Abby Swart kickstarted Lomega’s run in the second quarter.
The senior buried five 3-pointers and scored 17 of her team’s 22 points.
Swart finished the game with 23.
Lomega also got 10 points - including three treys - from Hadley Ott.
Monse Rivera contributed eight points as Lomega upped its season mark to 20-1.
