Weather forces changes to basketball playoffs

Thursday was supposed to mark the beginning of the regional basketball tournaments statewide for Classes B, A and 2A.

However, Mother Nature decided she had other plans.

The OSSAA announced on Wednesday that it was postponing the start of all regional basketball tournaments for those classes for one day due to weather and road conditions across the state.

With the move, the regional tournaments began Friday.

They will also be played Saturday and Monday.

The times and locations remained the same.

There was one exception for one of the Class 2A brackets, which wasn’t going to be able to begin play until Saturday, but that didn’t affect local teams.

The one-day change did affect Dover and Lomega in Class B, Okarche in Class A and Cashion in Class 2A.

The area tournaments for those classes will begin this Thursday as regularly scheduled.

The regional wrestling tournaments that were set to begin statewide on Friday - including a Class 3A regional in Kingfi sher - were not affected by any weather changes.
