Madell Henderson
Madell (Jones) Ricks who later became Madell Henderson, of Kingfisher, passed away on Jan. 1, 2024, at her home after a series of health issues. Madell was born Jan. 21,1933, in Waurika, Oklahoma.
She is survived and leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her beloved children: daughters Trisha Baldwin and husband Tom, Meliah Ratcliff and husband Allen; her sons Todd Ricks and husband Randy, Carlin Henderson and wife Glenda; grandchildren Danica Kramer and husband Kolby, Miranda Compton and husband Bobby, Alyssa Tarpley and husband Darin and children Adelaide, Racen and Emmalynn Robertson and Lane Henderson; great-grandchildren Kai, Nico and Chason Compton and great-great-grandchild Kaylynn Mae Guerrero.
Also her sisters Madeline Redwine and Lavenia Boutwell whom she loved deeply; numerous nephews and nieces and several maternal and paternal cousins, whom she loved, as well as many treasured friends in the Kingfisher community.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nathaniel Ricks, and second husband, Royce Henderson; her parents, WB and Willie Jones; sister Gwen Baldridge and husband George; brother Gene Jones and wife Mary; brothers-in-law Bill Redwine and Clyde Boutwell; uncle Calvin (Fat) Stowe; and nephew Donovan Boutwell.
Madell lived in several southern states including her home state of Oklahoma during both her childhood and adult life.
In 1973, she moved her family to Kingfisher.
She worked for the Kingfisher Police Department for 32 years as the police dispatcher and records clerk.
Madell enjoyed and treasured the professional and personal relationships she developed with the police officers and their families while working for the police department.
She considered the Kingfi sher Police Department a second family.
She was a staunch supporter of the department and the Kingfisher County law enforcement family.
While both working and in retirement, she belonged to many local charitable organizations.
Madell was closely bonded and treasured her friendships with past and present ESA, Eastern Star and Kingfisher County Republican Women’s members.
At the time of her passing, she was an active member of the Kingfisher First United Methodist Church.
A funeral service was held Jan. 4 at the Kingfisher First United Methodist Church followed by burial at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.
