Dover’s defensive dominance continues

The Longhorns gave up a season-low last Tuesday in a 68-6 victory at Pioneer.
In improving to 21-2, the Longhorns gave up fewer than 20 points for the seventh time this season.
The eighth-ranked team in Class B surrenders an average of just 25.4 points a game.
Down to just seven players, the three-win Mustangs had no chance.
They found themselves down 26-3 after a quarter and didn’t score again until the second half.
Dover had two players - Jonah Pendergraft and Casen Buck - score more in the first than the opponents did in the game.
Pendergraft notched 10 of his 16 points in the quarter.
Buck scored eight of his game-high 18 in that frame.
The Longhorns have just one regular season game remaining. They travel to Canton on Tuesday before hosting a district tournament beginning Friday.

The Lady Longhorns outscored Pioneer down the stretch to win 40-34 Tuesday on the road.
The Lady Longhorns were down 19-14 at the half, but cut it to two entering the fourth.
They did that as Kynli Boeckman and Joi Caldwell combined to score all 13 points in the quarter.
Caldwell kept it going in the fourth as she scored six more points as Dover outscored the Lady Mustangs 13-5 to earn their fourth straight victory.
Caldwell had just four points at halftime and was also 0 for 4 through the first three quarters from the foul line.
But Caldwell made all four of her fourth-quarter attempts to help Dover extend its lead.
She finished with 16 points.
Boeckman scored 12 with eight coming in the second half.
Rylee Buck scored 10 for Dover, which improved to 17-7.
